Houdini Straight Jacket Escape
After years of strait Jacket escapes Houdini used this as another way to advertise his opening or if ticket sales were not going to his liking. The press was of course invited and many times were given free lunch and libations. It was way more dangerous to hang upside down off the ledge of a high building than just on a stage in public. Many more ticket buyers could see this exciting display. Actually, it was easier to get out of a strait Jack hanging as he was. Gravity was a very big help.
